The SeaSide guide

Where to take photos in Sopot. Places we keep returning to.

Sopot and the SeaSide neighbourhood

The pier: come back at a different time

Sopot can look different in a photograph in the morning, at midday and after dark. Instead of chasing a dozen locations in one day, return to the same place in different light. The pier area is a good start. It is about 100 m from SeaSide, so a short walk with your camera or phone does not need much planning.

For an early start, check sunrise time for the actual day and look at the forecast. We cannot promise the light you see in our photographs every time. Clouds, mist and quieter colours can produce interesting pictures too. Check current pier access arrangements before leaving.

Plac Zdrojowy and the lighthouse: include the surroundings

The distinctive lighthouse and building at Plac Zdrojowy give shape to the town’s skyline. From street level, look for a simple composition: part of a facade, rooftops, trees and the sky beyond. You do not have to fit everything into one picture.

Our drone photographs show the relationship between the building, beach and pier. They help explain SeaSide’s location, while an ordinary walk gives you another perspective. The gallery brings both views together.

Boats and beach: slow down for the details

Around the fishing harbour, look for boats, sand and the waterline. Sometimes one colour or a small detail works better than a wide panorama. There is no need to get very close or enter somebody’s working space to notice something worth photographing.

Choose one direction along the coast and leave time to walk back. Our walking guide gives you a few starting points. Putting the phone away is part of a good break too; not every moment needs to become a photograph.

Leave room for your own Sopot

Our images include mornings on the pier, a SeaSide deck chair, views from above and the town after dark. Use them as the beginning of your own list, but an interesting picture often appears between planned stops. Allow time for a side street or a pause on a bench.

On a short trip, it helps to have your camera handy and your room nearby. SeaSide is a small base beside the beach, making it easy to go out once more. Choose a room for your stay.
