The SeaSide guide

What to do in Sopot when it rains. There is more than staying in.

An exhibition at Plac Zdrojowy, an unhurried coffee and room to change your plans. A rainy day can still be a good day.

Sopot and the SeaSide neighbourhood

Start with somewhere nearby

If the weather changes every hour, it helps to have a few options close at hand. SeaSide is at Plac Zdrojowy 3. The State Gallery of Art, PGS, is at Plac Zdrojowy 2, so you do not have to begin with a trip across the Tri-City.

Before going out, check the PGS programme. Exhibitions, hours and breaks between displays change. Choose something that interests you rather than any attraction simply because it is indoors.

Make it a town day instead of a beach day

Rain can be a reason to linger over coffee, have a relaxed lunch or browse local events. The Sopot events calendar lists venues, times and booking details. Not everything takes place daily, so choose for the actual dates of your stay.

You can also return to SeaSide for a break. Our shared corner has Kimbo coffee, teas, filtered water and small snacks around the clock. It is a useful stop between outings when you want to wait for a heavy shower to pass.

Check the museum before setting out

The Sopot Museum appears in many sightseeing guides, but do not base your plans on an old article’s opening hours. The villa is undergoing renovation and some museum activities take place elsewhere. Check the current programme and access information on the Sopot Museum website.

The same approach works for any attraction: get current information from its organiser before leaving. That way, your rainy-day plan does not end at a closed door.

Save a walk for a break in the weather

When the rain stops, you do not need a whole free afternoon to enjoy it. From our address, you can take a short walk near the beach and return easily. In stronger wind or rain, choose a closer route instead of sticking to an earlier plan at all costs.

On a longer stay, keep Gdańsk or Gdynia as an option for a particular exhibition or event. Our Sopot without a car guide covers travel. The FAQ explains stay times and breakfast arrangements.
